Passing of Benny Chor

The Institute for Information Sciences (INS2I) has learned with great sadness the passing of Benny Chor, director of the International Research Laboratory (IRL) FILOFOCS in Israel.
Benny Chor's research was mostly concentrated on Cryptography and Bioinformatics. He devoted much time to his teaching, developing new courses in different areas of Computer Science.
He joined the school of Computer Science at Tel-Aviv University in 2001, previously being a professor at the Technion.
For the last 10 years he was very active in the development of the scientific ties in computer science between Israel and the CNRS, culminating in the creation in 2019 of IRL FILOFOCS which he headed.
