Afonso Ferreira is currently a CNRS research director working at the Toulouse Institute of Computer Science Research (IRIT).

After his studies at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, Afonso Ferreira obtained a PhD in computer science at the Grenoble Institute of Technology in 1990. In the same year he joined the Parallel Computing Laboratory at ENS Lyon as a researcher and has been a research director since 2000.

He has in-depth European experience forged by more than ten years of involvement in European institutions including the Commission and his research focuses on the nexus between cybersecurity, policies and the future.
