Patrice Bellot is a professor of computer science at Aix-Marseille University and the Polytech School of Engineering, and a member of the Laboratory of Computer Science and Systems (LIS - CNRS/Aix-Marseille University /Université de Toulon). He specializes in information searches and automatic language processing and defended a doctoral thesis in 2000 on methods for the thematic classification and segmentation of texts. He was a senior lecturer at the University of Avignon between 2000 and 2011 before joining Aix-Marseille University. He is also the scientific director of the OpenEdition Lab, a research structure which is part of the Equipex and OpenEdition National Infrastructure supported by the CNRS, Aix-Marseille University, the EHESS (School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) and the University of Avignon.

His current research focuses on text mining, opinion mining and digital methods for information retrieval and automatic content recommendation.
