Research networks

A research network is an important instrument for the INS2I's scientific policy with its own funding and missions. It is set up for a maximum period of 5 years which can be renewed. It is subject to evaluation by the National Committee for Scientific Research and is monitored by a dedicated deputy scientific director at the INS2I.

A research network focuses on a given thematic field or related thematic field and has three main missions.

  • To drive the French community which identifies with the research network's thematic field. This is achieved particularly through the organization of scientific meetings on subjects related to network's chosen theme.
  • To structure research activities and carry out thematic coordination concerning CNRS units' teams whose research activities are covered by the network's chosen theme.
  • A scientific monitoring and prospective studies in its thematic field to enable the INS2I to keep up to date with developments in the field in terms of results, new scientific challenges and societal issues.
